How are ya? Single AF? I feel that we've all been there—many, many times. The jerks take over some months and end up throwing you out—for no good freaking reason. Listen up, men ain't shit—seriously. I know I sound like a huge hypocrite considering I'm in a relationship- but seriously, most men aren't shit. Here's some advice I have for you, and I hope you take it. Because, well, I know something about guys, I am in a relationship. I'm here to tell you how to make it work to the best of your ability, and hey, if you've been screwed over before—I'm here to make sure that never, EVER happens again. Play hard to get. You've heard that before? It doesn't work? Well, chances are you're not playing hard enough. It's bullshit if you hear that guys don't like that because I've literally heard it out of my boyfriend's mouth. No one likes the easy girl (I mean unless you are strictly involved in a NO STRINGS ATTACHED relationship, then by all means, go for it). But, seriously, act like he ain't shit (because he's not). But, that's your first step to getting the guy. Keep your options open. You never know when he's going to strike with his male bullshit—so don't completely give everything to him yet. Keep in mind that we are still young, but if you can't see it working with that specific someone, then don't limit yourself to just him. Unless you are in an exclusive relationship don't just flirt with one guy, try other things out too. Don't get too attached to fast. Again, in the hookup culture, we are involved in now you never know what you're getting yourself into right now. It sucks because there are some good ones out there, but most, just want one thing. Unless you know that sex isn't a huge factor in creating feelings, don't do it. Please, for the love of God, don't. Know if you are the side hoe or the main hoe. I'm not saying stalk him because you don't want to come off crazy, but know who you are dealing with. Is he a one girl guy? Or do you think that he's a multiple kinda guy? Yes, ladies, there are guys out there like that. See how he acts around girls—is he flirtatious? Do you think he could take home another girl every night? Does he give you most of his attention? Find some little facts about him—like what has his other relationships been like? Has he been in one? Just like a paper in school, do your research before fully committing to something. Have fun. You seriously don't know how lucky you are sometimes to not have to deal with another human. But, you could say the same thing back. Being single is all about having fun—enjoy the hookup culture. But, be sure to know what you want before you do anything. Being single has its perks, take advantage before you are locked down (in a good way). Being in a relationship is amazing too, absolutely amazing. But, it can only be that way if you're in one with the right person. Don't sell yourself away too fast, make sure you're both on the same page. Subscribe to our Newsletter. Stevie Nicks Is The 'Sorcerer' Of Rock And Roll. Five reasons why Stevie Nicks is one of Rock's kickass women. Stevie Nicks is one of my favorite musicians of all time—from her days with Fleetwood Mac (my favorite band of all time), to her outstanding solo career, Nicks has proved that she has immense staying power. Last weekend, she became the first woman to ever be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice! On the heels of her induction, I'd love to point out five reasons why she's still such a kickass musician/a badass woman in general. 1. The Most Obvious Reason--Her Insanely Amazing Songwriting Style. Nicks is one of those rare genius songwriters that come around once in a blue moon. Her hits with Fleetwood Mac include Dreams," "Gold Dust Woman," and my personal favorite, "Rhiannon" show her astounding roots, and thus, her killer lyrical style. Her solo hits like "Edge of Seventeen," and "Sorcerer" show off her musical prowess as well. 2. Her Duet with Tom Petty. If you've read my playlist article, then you'd know my adoration for Petty. But, if you haven't, suffice it to say that I consider him to be a staple in American Rock music. The fact that Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty shared the iconic duet of "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around," and their subsequent romance, solidifies Nicks' position as a kickass rocker. The duet is absolutely amazing, and I'd highly suggest listening to it if you haven't. 3. Her Iconic Style. The whole "Boho-Chic," "Coachella" fashion style became iconic in the '70s when Nicks pretty much started the trend. Her flowy dresses, iconic capes, and overall "boho-chic" vibe started this trend. (And it's still widely popular today, by the way.) 4. Her Incredible Staying Power in Popular Culture. The fact that Nicks still performs today, and puts on a hell of a show is as kickass as she is. I got the amazing opportunity to see her live in Spring of 2016 and I was completely enthralled the entire time. This woman still knows how to "Rock a Little." 5. Her Cameo in "American Horror Story" (this goes along with #4) Unless you've been completely checked out from modern television, you couldn't have missed her appearance in the hit show "American Horror Story: Coven." Nicks makes an appearance as herself, and she's intertwined into the witchy storyline. Creepy? Yes. Incredibly cool? Also yes. There are so many other reasons why Stevie Nicks is incredibly amazing, but these are just my top five. After reading this article, I'd hope you would go check out some of her work! It Was Wednesday. It was Wednesday and again I got nothing done. It was Wednesday. It was a school day. And I was in my bed. Students were in their room. catching up on homework. or watching Netflix. Adults were working. completing projects for their boss. or perhaps on their lunch break. talking with their colleagues. But it was Wednesday. It was a school day. And I was overwhelmed. Perhaps in a lecture hall. somewhere on the globe. the laughter of many voices. Somewhere, the school bell rings. Symbolizing the end of a school day. Children eagerly grab their things, forming two straight lines. As the children get a glimpse. of the sunlight, they lock eyes with their mom. and jubilantly run into her arms. But it was Wednesday. It was a school day. And I just began a long day’s work. the sun begins to set in the East, illuminating the city skyline, for all to see. Just as fireflies are lighting suburban lawns, for children to play in the autumn eve. As the crawls in, all return home. Wishing well to their loved ones. The rest their heads and begin to count sheep. Just as they were taught as a child, they speak not a peep. But it was Wednesday. It was a school day. And I again got nothing done. Disclaimer: This poem was written for a class. To my first heartbreak. Almost 10 years ago, I realized love is blind. April 19, 2015 I remember it like it was yesterday. At this point in my life with you I was drowning in my thoughts and feelings I had. For months, and even a year at this point I had lost count how many times you let me down. This isn’t a letter saying how I hate you, but I got more of an understanding for myself and why I let you treat me the way you did. Love is blind. I didn’t believe that the first time I heard that phrase, but the moment I knew we were over I saw the changes in you grew rapidly. I didn’t know who you were. I’m getting ahead. 2014 is the year where you absolutely changed my entire life. I met you online not thinking anything of it, and out of curiosity I went on this app that I know you would remember, all the guys in there that I saw were not attractive to me at all and I went to deactivate my account.. but I saw you. Something struck me and this feeling inside my gut told me to message you. Nothing. For 3 months straight I didn’t hear not a single word back from you, until one day. We agreed to meet, and we saw a movie. The entire time I could hardly focus with you sitting next to me. My heartbeat pounded through my chest and though my eyes were struck at the screen, I sensed your eyes staring at me. Working In Working Out. A sound body makes a sound mind. As a college student attempting to conquer passing grades as well as balance social skills, it is often hard to find time to work on one’s self, not just mentally, but physically.
